Vera Bassett

Vera Bassett - a rare and endearing artist

The Friends of the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery recently published this book, written by Donald Treharne it is the first to contain detail about the artist’s life and work.

It explores the reaction of critics to her art – Mervyn Levy enthused about her work and described her paintings as being “delicate and charming - sweet as the dawn.”

The book also describes the artist’s connections with notables such as Philip Burton and his one- time ward - the famous Richard Burton, Aneurin Talfan Davies in Wales and M. François de Vallombreuse, the gallery owner, in France.

Vera Bassett - a rare and endearing artist is copiously illustrated with colour images of her paintings, many of which have not been seen before.

All revenue from book sales will be used by the Friends to support the Gallery and its work.
