“Preserving Paintings”  – Current Conservation Projects at the GVAG

Jenny Williamson will discuss the treatments of three paintings that are undergoing conservation in the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery Conservation Studio. She will describe the research that underpins the treatments and the importance of developing partnerships with other professionals.

Jenny Williamson is an accredited paintings conservator working at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea and the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. She graduated from Cambridge University (BA Natural Sciences and History of Art) and trained in the Conservation of Easel Paintings at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. Since then she has worked in Wales as a paintings conservator, and also as a lecturer at Aberystwyth University for ten years.
She is a Fellow of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works and was Vice-Chair on the board of trustees at the Institute of Conservation 2015-20.
