We are absolutely delighted to invite you to attend our first talk back in the Glynn Vivian, where Ceri Thomas shall join us to talk about the life and art of Ogwyn Davies, this shall coincide with the launch of his book about Davies, Bywyd a Gwaith / A Life in Art. Making this event extra special, Ogwyn Davies’s daughter, Pobl y Cwm actor Nia Caron shall also join us to speak about her father.

Ceri Thomas is a freelance artist, art historian, art history lecturer and gallery curator from Swansea. He has published numerous works and curated exhibitions on various modern and contemporary Welsh artists ranging from Joan Baker to Ernest Zobole. He is a Royal Cambrian Academician and an Honorary Member of the Welsh Group and has exhibited across Wales and abroad. Ogwyn Davies was a painter, ceramicist and teacher, born in Trebanos, near Swansea. After his time in the Royal Air Force, Davies attended Swansea College of Art. He then moved to Tregaron, where he taught art at the comprehensive school for many years. Many of his paintings were inspired by the buildings and landscapes of Wales.

We are working hard on ways to record the session for our YouTube channel for those who are not able to attend in person.
