Bird-Jones studied stained-glass at Swansea School of Art followed by an MA in Glass at the Royal College of Art. She exhibits internationally and is currently practicing from her home studio based in Swansea.

She is a Creative Wales Ambassador, an active member of the Women’s International Glass Workshop as well as Culture Declares Emergency, a growing movement of creatives pledging to tell truths, take action and seek justice at this time of climate and ecological emergency.

Glass and light continue to be her mediums of choice, in combination, whether used in film, photography, architecture or for exhibition pieces.

Bird-Jones’ most recent solo exhibition, rydym i gyd yn fregus / we are all fragile, premiered at Swansea’s Mission Gallery in 2021 before touring to Ruthin Craft Centre earlier this year. The exhibition showcased a series of blown forms, the result of creative research and development with ‘spoons’.

“Interacting with these pieces requires care; to be considered and secure, cradled in one’s arms like a newborn child. One slip and all would be lost, shattered, mirroring the fragility of our human condition, of a life in balance.”

We are working hard on ways to record the session for our YouTube channel for those who are not able to attend in person.
